Winter Skin Care Tips

Dry, cracking skin can get anyone down and feeling embarrassed. But going from first to last in the winter months dealing with uncomfortable or ugly skin doesn’t have to be an option. Increasing your moisturizer, taking care of your body, and trying some inventive ideas are just a few starters. These 7 instructions can be the key to making sure you’re feeling and looking great in your skin all year round.

1. Use Moisturize With Oil
For anyone with an essential knowledge of skin care, it’s no how important moisturizer is for our skin, especially when the air is dry and the wind blows harsh. But, not just any moisturizer is going to do when the temperatures drop. In place of soapy moisturizer that may dehydrates your skin, look for one with an oil base. One good way to know if you are getting an oil-based moisturizer is to look for a label that says ‘night treatment’ or ‘ointment’.

2. Wear Sunscreen
Just like in summer time, it’s essential to wear sunscreen in winter as well. Wind sucks up moisture from your skin and the sun is too harsh at higher altitudes. We habitually forget to put on sunscreen which results in flaky and dull skin at the end of the day. Choose a sunscreen with at least SPF 20. Higher SPF means extra protection from harmful sun rays. Also, look for sunscreens which contain cocoa or Shea butter, aloe and moisturizing oils for your winter skin.

3. Protect Your Hands
While the skin on your hands has few oil glands and is relatively thinner compared to most parts of the body, it’s difficult to keep them moist, particularly when it’s cold. Make sure you wear gloves when you’re outside. If you need wool for warmth, wear a thin cotton glove underneath to avoid irritation.

4. Use Luke-warm Water But Not Hot
We all desire hot water for shower and baths but it’s not good for skin. Hot water draws moisture from skin and cause itchiness. Be kind to your skin and say no to hot water, as a replacement for use Luke-warm water. Keep away from using insensitive soaps and cleansers as they can really irritate your skin. Apply soaps containing natural ingredients and oils. You can also apply shower gel or cream which doesn’t dry off your body. Limit exfoliation to once a week. Exfoliation is significant to get rid of all the dead skin that accumulates on your body. Don’t forget to moisturize your body after shower.

5. Take Lip Care for Soft Pout
Chapped lips are so uncomfortable and most noticed. Apply a lip balm with vitamin-E and keep reapplying it the whole time of the day. To drop the flakes from your lips, apply lip balm at night as well so that your lips doesn’t appear like your lips are peeling.

6. Take Foot Care
Your heels are the driest part of your body. Having dry feet can result in cracks which are painful and repulsive. Every night, saturate your feet in warm water for 10 minutes and pat dry. Use Vaseline or
Any rich body butter and wear socks. Rinse your feet in the morning. If you don’t have time to do this every day, do it twice a week.

7. Humidify Your Room
Old, dusty dorm rooms will only make your winter skin not as good as. If you are permitted, purchase a small room humidifier with a timer. Still setting it for a few hours for every night can help your skin get the moisture it needs to refresh itself. It’s also great for your skin to recover after illnesses like flush or colds when your skin dries out or gets irritated easily. If you are unable to bring in a humidifier, try making your own. Take a large sponge and soak it in hot water. Then, strain it and place it into a gallon sized zip bag. Hit some holes into it to let the steam out, and you’ve created your own humidifier that can rest by your bed or window.
